Extra Credential Programs
Global and Intercultural Engagement Honour
This program recognizes students’ experiences and achievements in global and intercultural competencies. Through coursework and extracurricular activities, students will enrich their legal educational experiences, preparing them to be “global-ready graduates”, with skills to succeed and prosper in the increasingly interdependent global society. When successfully completed, the Honour will appear on the student’s official Western transcript.
To be eligible to receive the Honour, Western Law students must complete a minimum of 100 points from four categories. The final step is to complete and submit a personal reflection to Western International. Read more

Global Sustainability Certification
This program is designed to train the next generation of leaders in the global mining industry. Students who complete the program will be able to identify the environmental, technological, business, social, and legal aspects of global sustainability, and apply sustainability theories to current and developing circumstances in the field of resource development. Through interdisciplinary seminars and a culminating experience, students will learn to collaborate with professionals in a variety of relevant fields and develop workable strategies to promote sustainable resource exploration and extraction.
In addition to an Interdisciplinary Seminar, students must take designated courses in the following areas:
- Sustainability and Mining Law
- Environment and Society
- Business and Finance
- Earth Sciences
Culminating experiences include summer internships and domestic and international field schools.
