Does Western Law offer entrance scholarships?
Yes. We offer multiple Entrance Scholarships for which you are automatically considered after you are admitted. You do not need to apply separately for our scholarships.

When are scholarships awarded?
Dean of Law Entrance scholarships are awarded between January and April based on academic merit. Named entrance scholarships are awarded in July. Criteria for named scholarships may include academic merit, financial need, volunteer work, public service or other criteria.

Can I apply for a bursary?
Yes. Bursary applications become available in late January and are processed by Student Financial Services within the Office of the Registrar. While you do not have to be admitted to the Faculty of Law to submit an application, typically your application will not be processed until you are admitted. You will learn how much funding you qualify for, which is based on financial need, before the deadline by which you must respond to your offer of admission.

How do I access the bursary application?
Visit the Financial Assistance application, which will become active when the application becomes available. You will need your Western student number, which is printed above your name on your offer letter.

Are there other sources of funding for law school study?
Yes. Most major Canadian banks offer professional student lines of credit with preferred interest rates. Contact individual banks for details. If you require a confirmation of enrolment letter for your bank, visit the Admitted Student webpage (link in your offer letter) to request one.
