Honour Roll recognizes teaching excellence
December 15, 2015
Sixteen Western Law faculty and adjunct professors have been recognized by their students for high-quality teaching for the 2014-15 academic year. The University Students’ Council Teaching Honour Roll recognizes instructors who receive an accumulated average of 6.3 or higher out of 7 on the first 14 questions of Western’s course/instructor evaluations.
"This is the highest number of Western Law Honour Roll recipients in recent years,” said Associate Dean Valerie Oosterveld."Western Law's success is a testament to the commitment of our law school to excellence in teaching. Each of these faculty members and adjunct professors is dedicated to ensuring an active, engaged learning experience for our students."
The full-time faculty members are: Andrew Botterell, Erika Chamberlain, Gillian Demeyere, Michael Lynk, Bradley Miller, Adam Parachin, Sara Seck, Chris Sherrin and Robert Solomon. The adjunct professors are: Russel Drew, Ron George, Tom Heintzman, Michala Meiselles, Wilbert Kolkman, David Schnurr and Jason Voss.
"The law school is continually striving to improve upon its already strong teaching methods,” said Dean Iain Scott. “It is for this reason that our professors have begun to discuss, in faculty seminars throughout the academic year, law-specific teaching innovations and strategies. This year, we are also introducing a faculty teaching award to complement the annual Jay McLeod Professor of the Year Award from the Student Legal Society."
