Resources for Obtaining Legal Advice and Legal Aid:

  • Pro Bono Ontario provides 30 minutes of free legal advice on their legal advice hotline for civil matters (no family law or criminal matters), from 9AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday. 
  • Legal Line provides legal information (not legal advice) in plain English on 48 major areas of law. 
  • Information London provides links to criminal justice and legal services. 
  • Legal Aid Ontario – 1-800-668-8258, 8AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday. 
  • Neighbourhood Legal Services – a non-profit legal clinic funded by the Ontario Government, which offers legal advice, referrals and representation for low income residents of London and Middlesex County – 519-438-2890

Housing:

  • The London Landlord Tenant Board resolves disputes between residential landlords and tenants and eviction applications filed by non-profit housing co-operatives. 
  • Tenant Duty Counsel provides advice, legal assistance, resources and referrals to unrepresented tenants on the day of their hearing at the Landlord and Tenant Board. Priority is given to tenants facing eviction.
  • The Housing Mediation Service offers mediation for Western and Fanshawe Students in off-campus housing. mediation.service@uwo.ca and 519-661-3787

  • The Better Business Bureau provides a forum for complaints against businesses as well as resources for business owners.
