Neyers Teaches Advanced Torts at University of Melbourne

Jason Neyers in a University of Melbourne classroomFrom January 27, 2015 to February 6, 2015 Professor Jason Neyers taught an intensive course in Advanced Torts at the University of Melbourne. The course examined nuisance, vicarious liability, non-delegable duty, pure economic loss, the economic torts and misfeasance in a public office from a comparative Australian-Canadian perspective.  One of the goals of the course was to determine whether there was any theory which could adequately explain the current contours of tort law doctrine in both countries.  Approximately  forty students took the course which ran for thirty-six hours over two weeks.  “I was delighted to be a Senior Fellow in Melbourne’s JD program and to be able to discuss these difficult issues with the Australian students,” said Neyers.

Melbourne Law School was the first Australian institution to adopt a North American-style JD program and is universally regarded as being one of the world’s elite law faculties, ranking fifth in the world in QS Top Universities Ranking in 2013.
