System-wide Capacity Building and Cultural Change

We are committed to embedding EDIDA into our culture and moving forward with care, purpose and collaboration.  Our goal is to build and sustain EDIDA capacity, including through EDIDA governance, data collection and partnerships.

Recent or ongoing initiatives include:

  • Creation of the EDIDA committee, made up of Western Law students, staff and faculty, with a mandate to establish strategy and priorities, make recommendations to the Dean and other relevant committees, and build an ongoing and open dialogue on matters related to EDIDA
  • Creation of a subcommittee of the Admissions Committee, responsible for exploring revisions to the Diversity Survey to ensure it is inclusive and robust, analyzing data from Diversity Survey and OLSAS data to identify under-represented groups, and engaging in targeted outreach to increase diversity at Western Law
  • Collaboration with university units, the Student Legal Society and student affinity groups

Western Law’s Student Legal Society oversees more than 50 student clubs, including many that aim to advance EDIDA. Western Law is a proud supporter of the Student Legal Society’s Diversity Month programming
