Outgoing Exchange

Western Law students at National University of Singapore

With nineteen exchange partners spread across four continents, there are plenty of options for Western Law students to choose from when planning their exchange experience. Students participating in an exchange term pay their normal tuition directly to Western, allowing for a more international education without the international tuition price tag!

The number and location of exchange placements change annually and are advertised during the Fall term. Students applying for an exchange term for their third year of law school are given priority, though students applying for an exchange term for their second year may still be considered. Students will not usually be accepted into the exchange program unless they have a least a B average, although a B- average may be considered if space permits. Students with any failing grades are ineligible for exchange.

Most often, students will participate in an exchange term during the Fall or Winter semester of their third year. When considering exchange locations, students should be aware of differing term dates and how this may affect summer plans or graduation. To explore our exchange partners, please visit the Exchange Program page or ATLAS [Under Search Filters, choose "Faculty of Law" for Provider].

During the Fall term each year, Western Law’s International Programs Office holds two information sessions for students who are interested in applying for exchange. These sessions discuss things to consider before applying, provide an overview of our partners, information on the selection process, and instructions on how to apply. It is also an opportunity for students to ask any questions they may have. Attendance at one of these sessions is required to apply for exchange.

Stay tuned to the SLS Daily for more information about these sessions!
