Barry Fong
Barry Fong, JD'09, is an intellectual property lawyer and partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, with expertise in the protection and enforcement of copyright, trademarks, and domain names.
His practice also includes advising clients on IP issues arising from corporate and commercial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, and licensing matters.
In his litigation work, Barry has acted or appeared as counsel before the Copyright Board of Canada, Trademarks Opposition Board, Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada.
He has been recognized as a leading IP professional in Canada by Lexpert, Best Lawyers in Canada, Managing Intellectual Property (IP STARS), World Trademark Review 1000, and the World Intellectual Property Review.
Outside of work, Barry is an avid collector and supporter of Canadian contemporary art. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Art Gallery and chairs the OAG’s Acquisition & Collections Committee.
